A world of opportunities
Under the motto "Bilingual education: a world of opportunities", CIEB 2026 will bring together teachers, researchers, universities, schools and professionals from different countries to share experiences, projects and new perspectives on language teaching.
For English For Us, returning to this congress is a very special opportunity. It will let us present part of the work developed over recent months, learn from other professionals, and continue raising awareness of the need to build English teaching that also includes students with specific educational support needs.
A bot that supports
Marta Walliser, founder and CEO of Infinite Spur and creator of English For Us, will present the paper "A bot that supports: AI, inclusion and conversational practice at English For Us. Designing and training an educational chatbot for students with special educational needs".
The talk will cover the design, training and integration process behind the English For Us conversational agent. It will explain how the agent has been configured with cognitive accessibility, plain language, graded difficulty, meaningful repetition and teacher supervision in mind.
The agent isn't meant to replace the human support that's an essential part of our classes. Its purpose is to expand practice opportunities and offer students a safe space where they can repeat, try things out, make mistakes without fear, and build greater confidence and autonomy.
Design your accessible English class
English For Us will also run the workshop "Design your accessible English class: materials, supports and active methodologies. How to create inclusive resources and plan support classes with the Modern Classrooms model".
It will be a hands-on session for teachers who want to transform and adapt their own materials. The workshop will explore simple tools for creating accessible visual and audio resources, organising personalised supports, and structuring classes around routines, flexibility and formative assessment. Participants will be able to work with their own lessons, tasks or units and take away concrete ideas to apply later in their classrooms.
See you in Zaragoza
This dual participation reflects two of the major areas where English For Us keeps moving forward: the responsible exploration of new technologies, and the creation of practical tools that help teachers respond to the diversity of their students.
We're returning to CIEB with more experience under our belt, new proposals, and plenty of enthusiasm to share what we've learned. See you in Zaragoza as we keep building English teaching that's more accessible, inclusive and open to everyone.
